About Me

Experience

Accredited Specialist Clinical Social Worker

From a young age, Keely was drawn to being of service to others. Keely has dedicated her career to supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, informed by her lived experiences and her commitment to breaking cycles of intergenerational trauma. Her early exposure to family violence, mental health challenges, and structural disadvantage has shaped her professional focus on trauma, social justice, and human rights. Keely identifies as an Indigenous Australian woman with Palawa heritage, originating from the Peerapper people of Tasmania. Keely currently works online and can offer in person sessions as well as consultations to people located in Northwest Tasmania with NDIS packages.

Keely specialises in providing support to people who experience psychosocial disability and dual disability. Keely applies advanced trauma-informed care through a person-centred, multidimensional approach integrating psychotherapy, interpersonal neurobiology, mindfulness-based embodiment, psychosocial skill development, and creative expression. Keely’s practice is guided by eco-feminist and anti-oppressive frameworks, with a strong emphasis on addressing structural contributors to trauma and advocating for systemic change.

Keely has a particular interest in the impacts of sexual violence on highly vulnerable and marginalised populations, including women with disabilities, individuals with psychosocial disability or mental health concerns, indigenous communities, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

With more than 15 years of experience in disability support, Keely began her work as a peer support volunteer at age 14 and later co-facilitated an inclusive dance school in rural Tasmania. She completed her Bachelor of Social Work while working across residential and community disability services. Her international experience includes volunteering in Kenya with children with disabilities and displaced communities, and in Sweden with refugees, young families, and equine-assisted therapy programs. She has also contributed to organisations such as Headspace, United Synergies, and the Young Buddies refugee support group.

Keely has worked across clinical and community mental health services and has completed a Master of Advanced Social Work at the University of Melbourne. Her ongoing professional development includes postgraduate study at Harvard Medical School including completing a program in global mental health, trauma and recovery and certification in dissociative identity disorder. She is currently completing a Doctor of Philosophy with the aim of becoming a professor and global leader in trauma-informed practice.

Specific traumatic events, happen to specific people, in specific locations and within specific contexts, and inevitably involve other human beings. As such, trauma is inherently political
